Lay the goggles down on another piece of cardboard, and trace around the outside of one eyehole twice. Your doll can totally wear the goggles at this point but if you want to go the extra mile, and add lenses to your goggles, keep reading! Then, carefully bend each strip away from the middle staple, into a circle staple the ends together to hold everything together.Ĭut a piece of elastic about 12 1/4" long then loop each end over one side of the goggles, and stitch it back down to itself to hold it in place. Once you have both strips covered with foil, lay them on top of each other and staple them together, in the middle. You should end up with a nice silver strip - but take your time. Smear glue all over the back of a piece of foil then, wrap it around the cardboard, and trim away the excess. (This will give you a two-eyed goggle, but you could easily play with the measurements to make a single mono-goggle, or even a three-goggle!) Start by cutting the cardboard into two strips, each one 1/2" wide by 4 1/4" long. Grab your favorite scissors, a stapler, a glue stick, and some black elastic - and let's get crafting! It works best if it's very clear, and not too flimsy. You'll need part of an old cereal box, some aluminum foil, and (if you want to add lenses) the clear plastic window from a box you bought something in.
HOMEMADE MINION GOGGLES HOW TO
This week, we continue our mini-series on how to make your own mini-minion costume - with goggles!
HOMEMADE MINION GOGGLES FREE
Hot glue a piece of felt over the pipe cleaner ends so they don’t poke anyone in the head.ĭerek’s hat included the hairstyle sticking on end while the girls had the fold over kinds as I didn’t want them to get pokes by the protruding pipe cleaners. How to make goggleslike a minion for 18" dolls FREE Tutorial To create the hairstyles, insert pipe cleaners into the top of the hat and fold the ends in on the inside of the hat. Hand sew the pieces onto the fold of the hat.Īpply velcro to the ends of the black straps. You could also use fabric glue if you wanted to go the no sew method but as I remembered from the girls’ tiger costumes a previous year, hot glue doesn’t allow for much stretching if needed! Lay the pieces onto the fold of the hat and use pins to secure in place. Derek and the girls are all wearing the same hat, it’s just folded down a little more for Hailey than Derek. Put on the hat to see how much you need to fold it over for a perfect fit.

To create the Minion goggle hat, decide if you want to go with the 1 eyed or 2 eyed minion design and print out the template sheet.Ĭut out the shapes and trace them onto the different colors of felt noted on the template.

Scissors ( these are my favorite for cutting felt!).

HOMEMADE MINION GOGGLES MOVIE
It was a no brainer to choose the characters from the movie for this year’s Halloween costumes! At least once a week that movie choice is Despicable Me. Brielle gets to watch a 30 minute show while I’m putting Hailey down for a nap before she too takes a nap, and she again can watch 30-45 minutes of a movie before bed. I like to think that we’ve done a good job thus far keeping my daughters MOSTLY screen free. To learn more about my affiliates, please review my disclosure policy.
